Job summary

Career-Collective in Suwanee, GA seeks an experienced engineer to support HVAC and plumbing building systems design. You will perform project setup in Revit/AutoCAD, develop mechanical designs, and guide projects from narrative through permit submissions.

The role requires strong HVAC knowledge, 5+ years in related fields, and the ability to lead client communications and cross-discipline coordination in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing and Fire BUILDING Systems Design.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC engineering discipline and ability to provide quick support.
  • Self-motivated with ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project and drawing set up tasks in Revit and AutoCAD by creating discipline specific drawing sheets.
  • Independently produce basic to advanced mechanical/HVAC designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit per project scope.
  • Carry out design projects from design narrative through permit drawing submission.
  • Prepare HVAC calculations for plumbing systems including sizing of equipment and distribution.
  • Apply building codes to produce code-compliant design documents.
  • Participate in QAQC reviews of design documents.
  • Lead and manage projects independently by communicating with clients on scope.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and team members to align intersecting work.
  • Attend project meetings to ensure scope understanding.
  • Conduct site visits to observe conditions and document findings.
  • Communicate with clients and team during design and specification development.
  • Execute construction administration duties including RFI and Submittal reviews under supervision.
  • Attend industry trainings to stay current with engineering concepts and technologies.

Qualifications and Expectations
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing and Fire BUILDING Systems Design, only considered for if experience is in these fields.
  • Expected to immediately step in to assist and provide support for all design aspects of assigned projects.
  • Shows a strong understanding of the HVAC engineering discipline and can provide immediate support for a fast-paced department.
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP and Revit.
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly, accept responsibilities and take on new challenges as presented.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform project and drawing set up tasks in Revit and AutoCAD by creating discipline specific drawing sheet using the architectural base files
  • Independently and accurately produce basic, intermediate, and advanced level mechanical/HVAC designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit in accordance with project scope
  • Ability to carry out design project from design narrative thru permit drawing submission
  • Independently and accurately prepare HVAC engineering calculations required to design plumbing systems, including sizing of source equipment and distribution systems
  • Apply international and local building codes to assist in producing code compliant design documents
  • Participate and provide QAQC review of design documents for your discipline of proficiency
  • Lead and manage projects independently by communicating directly with clients to coordinate and align on scope of work
  • Cross-functionally communicate with other engineering disciplines and team members to coordinate where they intersect
  • Attend project meetings as need to ensure scope of work understanding
  • Conduct site visits to survey and capture existing conditions and author report that illustrate and describe observations and findings
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members in the design and specification development of plumbing building systems
  • Execute construction administration duties which include first level responses to RFI and Submittal review under supervision of senior engineering staff
  • Attend and participate in engineering industry training, events, and/or continuing education to stay current on latest engineering concepts and technologies
