Job summary

Pacer Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components. The role involves performing engineering analyses and design or redesign, advancing components into existing and new vehicles.

Under supervision, you will perform basic calculations and support senior engineers in plans, designs, and reporting for projects of limited complexity, collaborating across internal and external teams.

Qualifications

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with internship experience or 6+ months of related work experience.
  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
  • Experience with a high level CAD system.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience, including internship.

Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to client and general industry standards.
  • Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Collaborate with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards; ensure work aligns with company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform and direct the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.

Employment Type: Contract with possible extension

Hourly Rate: $42/hr.

Duration: 12+ months

Domain: Military vehicle

Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The Engineer – Mechanical designs functional, reliable and cost effective heavy duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re‑design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles.

YOUR IMPACT:
  • Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to client as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
  • Experience with a high level CAD system.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience, including internship.
