Job summary

Zobility is seeking a Project Engineer in Oshkosh, WI to lead and manage engineering projects, develop plans and budgets, and mentor engineers. You will make critical decisions impacting projects and drive continuous improvement in engineering processes.

You will perform high-level analysis, support vehicle and subsystem design, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure successful execution across complex initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Indirectly manage an engineering team of engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate engineering activities to meet project goals.
  • Provide coaching and development through regular performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal/external customers and suppliers across functions.
  • Present and defend technical engineering decisions to leadership and clients.
  • Ensure on-time completion of projects or project segments.
  • May manage overall project schedule and budget.
  • Perform complex engineering calculations and analyses.
  • Prepare plans, designs, reports, and interface control documentation.
  • Provide mentorship to entry level engineers on common projects.

Job description

  • The Project Engineer leads and manages engineering projects.
  • Responsible for developing project plans, project budgets, sub-contractor statements of work and all other associated project status reporting.
  • Responsible for making critical decisions that have a large impact on projects and engineering initiatives.
  • Develops and fosters Engineers to think innovatively, hold accountability, and process improvement daily.
  • Performs high level, engineering analysis, design or re-design, validation and troubleshooting of complex components for heavy duty vehicles.
  • Provides integration and execution support for vehicle, system, sub-system and component design.
  • Provides technical mentorship in high level analysis and design of new and modified components and subsystems in accordance with engineering standards and project scope.
  • A successful candidate will have 5-years of engineering experience with 2+ years of successful engineering project management of medium or greater technical complexity.
  • A stand-out candidate will have experience in root-cause analysis, electro-mechanical system integrations, DFMEA & DVP&R development.

Responsibilities:

  • Indirect manage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates engineering activities.
  • Provide coaching and development through regular performance feedback.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external customers, across segments and functions.
  • Ability to present and defend technical engineering decisions to Engineering leadership, Client leadership, and external customers.
  • Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time.
  • May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.
  • May be responsible for managing multiple priorities.
  • Performs more complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Client as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Responsible for preparation and delivery of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Develop and review interface control documentation with suppliers and business partners including mechanical, electrical, software and controls.
  • May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on common projects.
  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.
  • Participate in the budgeting process to include recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.

Requirements:

  • Communicate project objectives to team members.
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards.
  • Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
  • Provide complex technical assistance for production support.
  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Provide mentorship to team members to ensure the appropriate engineering analysis is performed and documented.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Prepare subcontractor Scopes of Work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • In-office attendance is required.

Preferred:

  • PMP certification
  • Experience managing a project.
  • Vehicle system experience

Education:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and five (5) or more years of related experience.
