Job description

Agilus is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Construction Industry in Newmarket, Ontario.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play an integral role within the organization as part of the Engineering Division. You will work alongside a team of engineers and be responsible for the design process, developing some of the most exciting mechanical design projects within the ICI industry across Canada. Success in this role relies on your ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, building key relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop comprehensive concept designs including load calculations, schematics, equipment recommendations, and system concept reports.
2. Collaborate with internal teams and external contacts such as consultants, architects, clients, and third-party individuals.
3. Prepare full contract document packages including specifications, drawings, and instructions to bidders.
4. Participate in on-site visits with the Project Manager during construction and attend meetings as required.
5. Liaise with the Scheduling Team for timely schedule updates; collaborate with the BIM Team for shop drawing reviews and modifications.
6. Work closely with the Project Management Team to support project execution, ensure ASHRAE & LEED compliance where applicable, and provide status reports for seamless project transitions.
7. Develop strong client relationships to source additional work and identify new opportunities.
8. Demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a collaborative work style across departments.

Requirements:

1. Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering.
2. 5-7 years of engineering/design experience, preferably in a client-facing role.
3. Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for licensure in Ontario.
4. Knowledge of engineering standards, construction codes, and industry standards.
5. Strong project management skills, judgment, reasoning, and decision-making abilities.
6. Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT is an asset.
7. Excellent communication, organizational, and technical skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and convey information clearly to non-engineering professionals.
