Job summary

Xylem is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Gas Metering and Communication Systems (AMI) Product Development Team in a hybrid role based in Dubois, PA. You will contribute to new product development from concept through production launch and provide sustaining engineering support for existing products.

You will design mechanical components and assemblies, create drawings and BOMs, perform tolerance analyses and FEM, and collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years in mechanical design, NPD, or sustaining engineering.
• Experience with 3D CAD and product data management tools.
• Experience with testing, validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, interfaces, and environmental packaging for rugged outdoor electromechanical products.
• Support product development from concept through launch, ensuring performance, quality, cost, and schedule goals.
• Create and maintain drawings, specifications, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
• Use 3D CAD, tolerance analysis, and FEM to guide design decisions.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, firmware, systems, manufacturing, quality, testing, and supply chain teams.
• Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and regulatory activities.
• Provide sustaining engineering support for released products, including troubleshooting and design changes.
• Work with suppliers on tooling, qualification, manufacturability, and production support.
