Job summary

Element Solutions Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design custom equipment and tooling, and to develop manufacturing drawings for production.

You will work with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to support product development, make 3D models in SolidWorks, and contribute to new and existing projects. Mentorship and hands-on learning are provided in a machine-building environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and components
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically/internationally

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
  • Update drawings based on production feedback
  • Assist with manufacturing or building of prototypes or production parts to meet schedules
  • Provide on-site shop support during machine assembly and build phases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, controls, and project teams
  • Assist with BOMs, manuals, and build instructions
  • Support ECR/ECO changes and drawing updates

We are seeking a motivatedMechanical Design Engineerto joinour growing engineering team. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to design custom equipment andtooling, develop manufacturing drawings, support production, and contribute to new and existing product development.

This position provides structured learning, mentorship, andreal‑worldexperience in amachine‑buildingorengineered‑to‑orderenvironment.

What will you be doing?
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and communicate effectively
  • Creates and maintains 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks
  • Works from prints, samples or instructions to create fully detailed drawings
  • Designs special die‑cut tooling following the directions and suggestions of senior Engineers
  • Update and revise drawings based on production feedback
  • Applies drafting standards and basic GD&T under guidance
  • Assists senior Engineers in the design and layout of custom machines and mechanical assemblies
  • Directs and coordinates the manufacturing or building of prototypes or production parts to meet scheduled completion dates

Machine Build &Hands‑OnSupport

  • Provide on‑site shop support during machine assembly and build phases
  • Assist with fit‑up, alignment, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems
  • Observe and participate in machine testing, debugging, and validation
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and commissioning activities
  • Gain exposure to integration with electrical, pneumatic, and control systems

Cross‑Functional& Project Support

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, controls, and project teams
  • Assist with engineering documentation such as BOMs, manuals, and build instructions
  • Support engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and drawing updates
  • Learn company standards, safety practices, and quality requirements
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lessons‑learned activities

Cross‑Functional& Project Support

Who are You?
  • Bachelor’sDegree inMechanicalEngineering(preferred), Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and mechanical components
  • Ability towork effectivelyboth independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work in ahands‑onenvironment
  • Good communicationand teamwork skills
  • Abilitytotravel domesticallyandinternationaltravel 30%
