ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for an established industrial equipment manufacturer specializing in custom-engineered pressure, thermal, and mechanical systems, which would be a great opportunity for someone with strong hands-on design instincts and a passion for solving tough technical problems looking to further their career in custom product engineering.

  • Own mechanical designs from specification through production-ready release — performing calculations, sizing and selecting components, and making technical decisions with full accountability for the outcome.
  • Translate customer specifications and requirements into creative, manufacturable engineering solutions, including for first-of-kind and non-standard configurations.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, BOMs, and design documentation to support fabrication and assembly.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team on the shop floor — getting hands-on with builds, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and driving solutions through to resolution.
  • Apply engineering analysis tools including hand calculations, FEA, and simulation software to validate designs and work through technical challenges.
  • Select and specify components and equipment; validate that selections perform as expected in the final system and lead resolution when they don't.
  • Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and procurement to support project execution and customer deliverables.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on mechanical design experience — calculations, component sizing, and CAD ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a specification and turn it into something that can be manufactured — not just modeled.
  • Comfortable working in and around a manufacturing environment; willing to get on the shop floor and engage with production.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD platform; FEA experience a plus.
  • Experience with pressure systems, hydraulic or pneumatic systems, thermal equipment, or industrial mechanical systems preferred.
  • Tinkerer mentality — hands-on by nature, curious about how things work, and motivated to solve problems at the hardware level.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with custom or first-of-kind product development where no established design precedent exists.
  • ASME code familiarity (Section VIII, B31.3, or related pressure/piping standards).
  • Background in industrial equipment, oil and gas, rotating equipment, or thermal/combustion systems.
  • Prototyping or fabrication experience — CNC machining, welding, sheet metal, or additive manufacturing.
