Job summary

Good Earth Tools in Festus, MO is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our hands-on, manufacturing team. You will design and analyze industrial components using SolidWorks, develop BOMs, and support manufacturing with technical expertise.

This role emphasizes a strong mechanical aptitude, collaboration with sales and customers, and delivering robust designs for wear-proofing applications in harsh environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline strongly preferred.
• Strong base in SolidWorks or related 3D design software.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office.
• Must be customer focused and a team player.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledgeable in engineering and design principles.
• Must be able to work a minimum 40 hours as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Support Customers, Sales and Marketing efforts to provide solutions to heavy industrial issues.
• Complete concept, design, and analysis of industrial products using SolidWorks (machined components, steel fabrications, forgings, castings).
• Qualify and perform engineering change requests as required.
• Complete new product cost estimating and quoting; re-costing existing products.
• Coordinate outsourced activities related to forgings and cast products.
• Provide hands-on installation and troubleshooting of new and existing designs.
• Source, support manufacturing, and offer technical expertise.
• Develop bills of material, production routings, inspection documentation, and work instructions.
• Focus on how production processes are affected by new designs and changes.

• Support Customers, Sales and Marketing efforts to provide solutions to heavy industrial issues.
• Complete concept, design, and analysis of industrial products consisting of machined components, steel fabrications, forgings and castings utilizing SolidWorks.
• Qualify and perform engineering change requests as required.
• Complete new product cost estimating, re‑costing existing products, quoting, etc.
• Coordinate out‑sourced activities with regard to new developments in the areas of forgings and cast products.
• Provide hands‑on installation and troubleshooting of new and existing designs.
• Effectively source, support manufacturing, and offer technical expertise.
• Develop bills of material, production routings, inspection documentation, and work instructions.
• Provide continuous focus on the production process and how it is impacted by new product, design improvements and engineering changes.

• Must have the ability to work a minimum 40 hours as scheduled and maintain a punctual, reliable attendance record

Physical Demands:

The employee is required to stand and walk for long periods of time; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move parts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move parts up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
