Job description

Title: Mechanical Engineer IV

- Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics (hard requirement)

- Minimum Experience: 10+ Years (hard requirement, no consideration for less)

- Type: Preference for 100% on-site, open to hybrid. Candidate can live and partially work from anywhere in US, must be willing and able to travel to specified locations as needed. Initial months onsite required. Travel expenses reimbursed.

- Max Bill rate: ***/hr

- Immigration Status: Must be eligible to work in the US for at least 18 months

- Interview Process: Via Teams, initial with manager, then panel interview

This position focuses on precision engineering:

• Strong understanding of precision engineering principles
• Experience designing and building precision motion systems

Scope of Position:

• Senior mechanical design engineer responsible for detailed designs of precision motion systems and custom tooling/fixturing, including vendor management
• Hands-on support for installation, start-up, and debug of fiber/connector manufacturing equipment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Application of mechanical principles including mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design

Requirements:

• 10+ years of mechanical equipment design experience
• Proficient with SolidWorks
• Understanding of precision engineering principles
• Experience designing and building precision motion systems
• Competent with structural FEA analysis
• Experience with installation, start-up, and debugging of mechanical equipment for manufacturing
• Excellent problem solving and attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with project teams to understand design requirements
• Develop approaches to solutions independently
• Responsible for installation and debugging at R&D and factory sites
• Provide input on equipment installation and troubleshooting
• Verify equipment build and layout against drawings
• Coordinate with engineers and vendors to resolve discrepancies

Travel Requirements:

• Approx. 25% travel, including to suppliers or vendors for equipment check-out

Work Schedule:

Typically 40 hours/week, may include weekends, holidays, or longer days as needed
