Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to design and integrate mechanical systems onsite in Berkeley, CA. You will work across disciplines to define requirements, interfaces, and verification Plans for complex products.

The role requires 5+ years of systems experience and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering. Collaboration across teams and rigorous documentation are essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Define system and subsystem requirements, boundaries, assumptions, and interfaces.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluids, materials, manufacturing, supplier, and CAE inputs.
• Lead system trade studies and document technical rationale, risks, and implementation constraints.
• Assess backward compatibility and revalidation impacts of proposed changes.
• Develop verification plans, requirement traceability, and phased implementation recommendations.

Mechanical Systems Engineer

ONSITE in Berkeley, CA

Domain-Specific Skills

• Mechanical and electromechanical system architecture, functional decomposition, and interface management.
• Requirements analysis for structures, fluids, thermal systems, sensors, pumps, heaters, and electrical isolation.
• Trade studies balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, reliability, and revalidation impact.
• Verification and validation planning across subsystems and staged product changes.

Salary Range: $115,000-$130,000/K

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
