Job summary

Coxreels is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to lead product development for industrial and commercial products sold through distribution. The role emphasizes stability and long-term growth, focusing on designing and improving Coxreels' USA-made product line.

You will combine research, CAD modeling, prototyping, and manufacturing release while collaborating with sales and suppliers across multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of mechanical engineering experience focusing on design or product development.
  • Proven ability to take concepts from design through implementation.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication and machining is prioritized.
  • Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings and CAD models.
  • Strong communication with coworkers, vendors, and customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering fields; equivalent experience considered.
  • Flexible hours in a stable, team-oriented environment.

Job description

We are looking for a new member of our engineering team who is looking for a stable and productive work environment, with emphasis on long term employment. The role is a primarily a product development role for industrial and commercial product sectors, sold through distribution. The ideal candidate possesses both a high level of technical expertise in the field of product manufacturing and has worldly knowledge of machinery and industrial products. The position requires someone who is self-motivated and capable of prioritizing several simultaneous projects while dealing with a time sensitive environment. The successful applicant will play a critical role in designing, creating, and improving products successfully growing Coxreels' USA made product offering.

Role Responsibilities
  • Primary role is the research, design, and release of new products and improved designs into production.
  • Research includes market and competitive product evaluation, application evaluation, and field problem solving.
  • Design includes CAD modeling, sourcing, manufacturing methodology, prototyping and testing.
  • Release includes drawings, work instructions, visual aids, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Support the vertically integrated manufacturing facility with respect to product design, assisting with customer and product function focused decisions.
  • Function as a technical resource for sales, customers, and suppliers.
  • Assists fellow team members from a design perspective related to manufacturing, materials, processes, prototyping, fixturing, and tooling.
  • Complete design and development projects as assigned. Execute engineering changes as needed.
  • Perform product related problem solving: Function, application, production.
Qualifications, Abilities, & Experience Needed
  • 10 years of industry experience in mechanical engineering focused on design or product development with a robust understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes. A focus on sheet metal fabrication (cut-form-weld), and machining is prioritized.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical principles, and practical application of them, with the ability to take a project from concept and design to implementation as most projects are not team based.
  • Physical ability to build and test prototypes and evaluate real world applications of the product type.
  • Ability to create and interpret mechanical drawings is required and CAD software ability and design skills are expected (Autodesk software), along with typical engineering related MS office skills.
  • Cooperative manufacturing related communication skills are required in both office and production areas, and professional behavior with coworkers, vendors, and customers is expected.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering. (Equivalent experience will be considered.)
