UTEC - Universal Tool Equipment + Controls is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design/Staff Engineer to evaluate engineering models and drawings for design completeness and manufacturing feasibility. You will ensure GD&T callouts, tolerances, and material specs are correct, and verify CAD fits and redlines prior to release.

You will interface with design teams and suppliers to understand manufacturing processes and constraints, guiding engineers on GD&T and inspection methods while providing

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Computer Drafting and/or 5 years or more experience with assembly and/or machine design and/or checking.
• Proficient with CAD systems such as NX, Catia and FIDES; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and GD&T per ASME standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD annotations.

Responsabilités

• Interface with design personnel to understand component design intent and manufacturing considerations.
• Create and check part and assembly drawings with GD&T, tolerances, materials, heat treatment, and inspection requirements.
• Verify 3D CAD fits within master assembly and maintain clearances with neighboring parts.
• Ensure redline mark-ups are implemented before drawing release.
• Perform stack-up calculations considering tolerance variation.
• Sign-off drawings for manufacturing release and guide others on GD&T practices.
• Participate in CAD design reviews to identify interface issues.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and suppliers to understand processes and limitations.
• Discuss schematics with customers regarding system installation.
