Job summary

TSI Seats Inc., a Seattle-based aerospace company, is seeking a mechanical design engineer to prepare and review engineering deliverables, develop 3D models, and support certification activities for aircraft interiors.

You will work with cross-functional teams, including certification and manufacturing, using CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and other tools, to ensure airworthiness and regulatory compliance while contributing to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and PLM/PDM systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 21/25 or other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review technical documents, drawings, and engineering deliverables.

Job Description
  • Prepare and review technical documents, procedures, drawings, and other engineering deliverables related to mechanical design and certification activities.
  • Develop 3D models, technical drawings, and CAD designs using CATIA V5 and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Design parts, components, and systems, perform technical evaluations, and prepare engineering and production data packages.
  • Support certification activities and preparation of technical documentation required to demonstrate compliance with applicable airworthiness and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, certification reviews, technical assessments, and compliance-related activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support the review and validation of designs from both design and certification perspectives, considering functional, safety, weight, manufacturability, and performance requirements.
  • Support engineering change and configuration activities within the assigned scope.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, quality, airworthiness/certification, and other cross-functional teams to resolve design and certification-related issues.
  • Collaborate closely with TCI Aircraft Interiors engineering and certification teams in Türkiye, ensuring effective technical coordination and alignment between U.S. and Türkiye operations.
  • Support communication and coordination with customers, OEMs, suppliers, and certification/regulatory stakeholders when required.
  • Support compliance activities related to applicable aerospace requirements, including FAA regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Participate in FMEA, risk assessments, root cause investigations, and corrective actions related to design and certification issues.
  • Provide technical support to production and on-site activities and contribute to the resolution of manufacturing or installation-related engineering issues.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, material lists, and other relevant technical records.
  • Recommend appropriate materials, manufacturing methods, and design improvements.
  • Identify potential design and certification risks and contribute to appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design, certification, and engineering processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of technical data and intellectual property.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States without current or future company-sponsored immigration sponsorship. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant professional experience in mechanical design, product development, certification, airworthiness, or related engineering activities, preferably within the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and/or similar CAD and engineering tools; familiarity with PLM/PDM systems such as ENOVIA is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification and airworthiness processes, including FAA Part 21, Part 25, or other applicable regulatory requirements, is preferred.
  • Experience with aircraft interiors, seating systems, mechanical structures, or similar aerospace products is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and international engineering teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical topics with customers, suppliers, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
