Job summary

SIRIS is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to lead ground-up hospital project activities for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Montgomery, AL. You will guide project delivery, budget, schedule, and safety, coordinating with VA staff and design teams to minimize disruption to hospital operations.

You will mentor staff, ensure quality, and manage multi-disciplinary teams, with potential off-hours work to support critical milestones and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 6 years’ design and construction experience.
• Experience reviewing design and construction plans against site conditions.
• Ability to propose cost-effective technical solutions for unforeseen site conditions.
• Knowledge of commercial mechanical construction including underground installation, medical gas, domestic water, chilled water, and steam systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC and control systems, testing and balancing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of site work and document discrepancies, code violations, and substandard workmanship.
• Review contractor submittals for compliance and provide recommendations.
• Maintain complete project records: submittals, RFIs, pay applications, inspections, and safety observations.
• Attend weekly project meetings to monitor status and resolve issues.
