Job summary

Verto People is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning and startup on a major power generation project in Texas. Representing the owner, you will oversee mechanical testing, witness flushing and leak checks, and verify equipment readiness for operation and handover.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of mechanical commissioning experience in power or process plants, practical experience with lube oil flushing and rotating equipment startup, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Experience with lube oil flushing and rotating equipment startup.
• Working knowledge of ASME codes.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• OSHA 30 and owner-side commissioning experience would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities

• Review mechanical commissioning procedures and test documentation.
• Witness system flushing, cleaning, leak checks and functional testing.
• Monitor readiness of mechanical equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Work with contractors and vendors to troubleshoot startup issues.
• Verify equipment preservation is maintained throughout commissioning.
• Support performance testing and track outstanding items through to turnover.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of mechanical commissioning experience within power or process plants.
• Practical experience with lube oil flushing and rotating equipment startup.
• Working knowledge of applicable ASME codes.
• Confidence reviewing technical documentation and maintaining clear commissioning records.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field experience.

Previous owner-side commissioning experience, OSHA 30 and familiarity with digital construction documentation tools would be advantageous.
