Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Mechanical Designer in Rancho Bernardo, CA to revise CAD drawings and models for our sustainment group. You will prepare detailed drawings and layouts using Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and possibly NX, ensuring compatibility with interfaces and manufacturability.

Under general supervision, you will perform basic engineering calculations, verify dimensions, and apply tolerance analyses while maintaining Windchill-documented ECNs and drawing records; travel may be

Qualifications

High school diploma or technical certificate with 5+ years of drafting using 3D CAD.
Knowledge of dimensioning, tolerances, manufacturing processes and industry standards.
Proficiency in algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and materials properties.
Good organizational, communication, and teamwork skills; able to work extended hours and travel.
Ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

Prepare engineering layouts and detailed drawings from engineering input using CAD.
Create readable drawings suitable for fabrication and assemblies.
Verify dimensions, materials, quantities; perform calculations.
Revise CAD drawings per ECN redlines through Windchill workflow.
Maintain records, files, parts lists, and drawings essential to project.
Observe laws, regulations and safety procedures; work extended hours as needed.
May provide technical direction to drafting personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
