Job summary

SLB is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer to create and maintain manufacturing drawings per ANSI/SLB standards, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability. The role involves translating layouts and sketches into production drawings and supporting project documentation.

The ideal candidate has Creo or SolidWorks experience, familiarity with BOM/MRP, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while progressing designs to production.

Qualifications

  • Prepare manufacturing, engineering or sustaining project drawings per ANSI/SLB standards.
  • Understand tolerance analysis and manufacturability effects on parts and assemblies.
  • Balance multiple priorities and deliver on time.
  • Experience leading or mentoring other designers is beneficial.
  • Know ANSI/SLB drafting methods and procedures; familiarity with SLB processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare average to high complexity mechanical layouts and production drawings from layouts, sketches or verbal instructions.
  • Use CAD systems to create and maintain drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Maintain status reports on projects and collaborate with engineers and production teams.

Job description

The Mechanical CAD Designer is responsible for preparing and manufacturing, engineering or sustaining project design layouts, production drawings and other related documentation per ANSI/SLB standards, considering methods of manufacture and tolerance and their effect on related parts or assemblies.

  • Function as a design engineer for routine/correction.
  • Prepare average complexity original mechanical layouts using the CAD system.
  • Depending on seniority, use the CAD system to prepare and maintain highest complexity mechanical and average complexity electrical and electronic product and production drawings and other related documentation from layouts, sketches or verbal instructions.
  • Be responsible for accuracy of assignments, except for design features that are the responsibility of the project engineer.
  • Understand ANSI/SLB drafting methods, standards and procedures.
  • Understand SLB manufacturing processes and techniques, and interpretation of ANSI/SLB standards and procedures.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of the mechanical and, depending on the seniority, partial to total knowledge of the electrical and electronic Business Line.
  • Maintain status reports on all projects assigned.
  • Creo or Solidworks experience preferable.
  • Proven experience with MRP / BOM generation and revision.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work with a sense or urgency to deliver on time.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and concepts.
  • Experience as team lead or mentor to other designers would be beneficial.
