Job summary

BAC is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician III to join our manufacturing team in Dayton, Tennessee. You will follow defined work instructions to assemble mechanical support assemblies with precision, using drills, nail guns, and impact wrenches while meeting daily targets.

Ideal candidates have assembly experience in a high-volume setting, current JIB crane certification, strong blueprint literacy, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Assembler experience in a high-volume environment.
  • Current JIB Crane Certification.
  • Clear English communication—written and spoken.
  • Solid knowledge of safety standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Follow defined work instructions to assemble mechanical support assemblies.
  • Hit daily production targets without compromising safety or quality.
  • Operate JIB cranes to lift, move, and position components.
  • Keep your area organized—assist with replenishment, parts flow, and 5S sustainment.
  • Fabricate per blueprints and shop drawings; verify fit, form, and function.
  • Document quality through In-Process Inspections and required paperwork.
  • Support teammates by flexing to other lines or departments when needed.
  • Take on additional tasks as directed by your supervisor.

As a Mechanical Assembly Technician III at BAC, you’ll use standard work to safely assemble a wide range of mechanical units, shifting between stations or departments as production needs change. You’ll be trusted to do the right thing the right way—every time—while living our values: Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation.What You’ll Build and DoFollow defined work instructions to put together mechanical support assemblies with precision and care.Hit daily production targets without compromising safety or quality.Operate JIB cranes to lift, move, and position components safely and efficiently.Keep your area organized—assist with replenishment, parts flow, and 5S sustainment.Fabricate per blueprints and shop drawings; verify fit, form, and function.Continuously sharpen your craft to become a world-class assembler.Use appropriate PPE and follow all tool safety requirements.Document quality through accurate In-Process Inspections and required paperwork.Support teammates by flexing to other lines or departments when needed.Take on additional tasks as directed by your supervisor.Who You Report ToYou’ll report to a Team Leader, Station Leader, or another assigned supervisor within the Assembly department.Your ToolkitMath you actually use: add, subtract, multiply, divide; work with fractions and convert to decimals.Measuring mastery with tape measure, micrometer, and protractor.Blueprint and reference drawing literacy.Clear English communication—written and spoken.Hands-on skill with drills, nail guns, impact wrenches, and other small power tools.Accurate completion of In-Process Inspections and related documentation.JIB crane operation backed by required certification.Material handling experience with pallet jacks, lift trucks, and JIB cranes.Solid knowledge of safety standards and consistent adherence.Preferred BackgroundAssembler experience in a high-volume environmentHands-on JIB crane experienceLarge plant assembly exposureCurrent JIB Crane CertificationAt BAC, technical excellence goes hand-in-hand with integrity. Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected.
