Job summary

BAC is seeking an Assembler III to join the plant assembly team. You will follow standard work to assemble mechanical units, read blueprints, and use hand tools with safety as a priority.

The role requires flexibility to move across stations and to support production goals while maintaining quality and 5S standards. Responsibilities include operating JIB cranes, replenishing work areas, and performing in-process inspections.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform basic math and measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Strong command of English in speaking and writing.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
  • Commitment to safety and PPE rules and procedures.
  • Certified to operate JIB cranes (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience with In Process Inspections and quality checks.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment and pallets.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical units following standard work and blueprints.
  • Meet daily production goals and quality standards.
  • Safely operate JIB cranes to move components.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe work area (5S).

Job description

The Assembler III is a member of the assembly team and is responsible for following standard work to assemble a wide variety of mechanical units in a safe manner. The Assembler III works as member of the larger plant assembly team and may flex to any of the departments or work stations as volume dictates. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Utilize standard work to assemble mechanical support assemblies in a safe and quality conscious manner eliminating risk of damage.
  • Meet daily production goals as assigned.
  • Safely operate JIB cranes to lift, move, and position components.
  • Assist with the replenishment and organization of the work area.
  • Build and fabricate units according to blue prints and shop drawings
  • Actively learn all skills necessary to become a world class Assembler.
  • Follow all safety requirements regarding tools and PPE.
  • Maintains and sustain 5’s in the department.
  • Actively acquire skills and ability to support the highest quality standards.
  • Flex to other areas as needed demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to team success
  • Perform all other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
NATURE & SCOPE

Reports to the Team Leader, Station Leader or other supervisor as assigned for the Assembly department.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Competent in math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions.
  • Ability to use hand held measuring tools including tape measure, micrometer, and protractor.
  • Competent in reading blue prints and reference drawings.
  • Working command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Safely use drills, nail guns, impact wrench and other small power tools as required.
  • Know how to correctly fill out In Process Inspections and any other paperwork as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate JIB cranes; achieved through required certification.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, lift trucks and jib cranes as required.
  • Knowledge of all safety requirements and adherence to safety standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 80% of the time. Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected.
