A day in this role
At the start of your shift, you sync with the Department Production Supervisor and Team Leader, align on the production schedule, review diagrams and blueprints, and plan material transactions on the shop routing. You choose the right hand, pneumatic, or hydraulic tools, confirm your gauges and precision measuring instruments are ready, and get to work assembling heavy, large mechanical components with safety always first.
Through the day, you clean and fit parts, deburr edges with a hand file, hone stone, or a portable pneumatic grinder, and perform essential checks and adjustments using established processes. You move sizable parts with overhead cranes and forklifts, make minor equipment adjustments or setups under supervision, and collaborate closely with teammates to keep the line running smoothly. When a deviation appears, you take corrective action and document what you did.
Toward the end of the shift, you post accurate material transactions, verify all assemblies meet specifications, and report any issues to the Team Leader or Department Supervisor. As needed, you may cross over to basic welding, washing, priming, or painting of components or assemblies.
