Job description

Company: JIREH METAL PRODUCTS

Location: Grandville, MI

Reports To: Operations Manager

Works With: Production, Quality, Material Handling, Shipping/Receiving

Your day at a glance

You start your shift by reviewing work instructions, blueprints, and schematics for the jobs in the queue. You gather the right hand and power tools, set up your work area, and begin assembling components into finished products. Throughout the day, you team up with Production to hit the schedule, coordinate with Material Handling for parts, connect with Quality to verify conformance, and time builds so they’re ready for Shipping/Receiving. Quality moments are built into your routine—you inspect what you assemble, catch issues early, and communicate defects or equipment concerns promptly. Safety is second nature: you follow all company protocols, wear required PPE, and keep your station clean and organized from start to finish.

Purpose of the role

  • Build to documented requirements using established processes and equipment.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with teammates and supervisors to meet changing priorities and output goals.
Quality & Issue Reporting
  • Verify finished work meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues and report defects, equipment concerns, and production problems promptly.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to ensure consistent results.
Safety & Workplace Organization
  • Adhere to all safety rules, company policies, and operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area throughout the shift.
Department & Facility Support
  • Assist with boxing, secondary operations, packaging, and other production tasks as needed.
  • Cross-train across multiple value-added activities while keeping assembly as the primary responsibility.
Education & experience
  • Prior assembly, manufacturing, or general labor experience preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable using basic hand and power tools.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions with strong attention to detail and quality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical requirements
  • Stand for extended periods; frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive assembly motions.
  • Lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds independently.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and production equipment for the full workday.
Travel
  • Minimal travel required.
Language
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Safety glasses and hearing protection are required in all manufacturing areas.
  • Wear additional PPE as required by the task or work area.
Work environment
  • Manufacturing setting with continuous noise and moving equipment.
  • Exposure to dust, grease, moisture, and varying temperatures.
  • Potential exposure to manufacturing hazards—strict safety compliance required.
  • Intermittent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
