Job summary

Reading Bakery Systems in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Mechanical Assembly Coordinator to lead the assembly team while staying hands-on. You will set daily priorities, troubleshoot equipment, read prints, and help moves projects from parts and drawings to complete machines.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on safety, quality, and productivity on the production floor, with opportunities to grow technically and as a leader.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of industrial mechanical assembly or machine-building experience.
• Experience with custom machinery, conveyors, or capital equipment.
• Previous lead, coordinator, or supervisory experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings.
• Experience with bearings, shafts, gearboxes, belts, chains, drives, motors, and conveyors.
• Comfortable using precision measuring tools, hand tools, and power tools.
• Willingness to obtain forklift certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of mechanical assemblers.
• Set daily priorities and keep builds on schedule.
• Assemble, fit, align, adjust, and troubleshoot machinery.
• Read and work from drawings, BOMs, and prints.
• Resolve fit, tolerance, and mechanical-function issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to move projects.
• Support machine testing, start-up, and debugging.
• Coach team members and develop their skills.
• Maintain safety, quality, productivity, and workmanship.

You’ll help organize the day, support and develop the team, solve mechanical problems, and keep custom industrial bakery equipment moving from parts and drawings to a fully assembled, working machine.This is not a desk-only supervisor role.
