Job summary

Switchgear Power Systems is seeking a Mechanical Assembler for a weekend shift to build and install mechanical components for custom electrical equipment. You will read drawings, follow BOMs and work instructions, and perform precise assembly to SPS quality standards.

Starting pay is $23 per hour, with a 36-hour schedule paid as 40, plus paid training and two weeks of PTO. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and opportunities for growth within a clean, well-lit facility with potential

Job description

The Mechanical Assembler- Weekend is responsible for assembling and installing mechanical components used in custom electrical equipment. This role works from drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and work instructions to ensure equipment is assembled safely, accurately, and to SPS quality standards.

Hours: 6:00am-6:00pm, Friday- Sunday (work 36 hours, get paid for 40)

  • Assemble and install mechanical components according to drawings and work instructions.
  • Verify parts and components against BOMs for accuracy.
  • Measure, layout, drill, fasten, and install components using hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and other visual aids.
  • Identify and report material, design, or quality issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement and other production needs assigned.
Required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime as needed.
Preferred
  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, or mechanical experience.
  • Experience reading drawings, blueprints, or work instructions.
  • Experience using measuring tools and performing mechanical layouts.
  • Previous forklift or scissor lift experience.

Employee occasionally uses computer keyboards. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor occasionally.
