Mechanical Assembler
Position Summary:
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical components and systems utilizing engineering blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. Working closely with other assemblers to connect components and construct large mechanical products.
Employment Type: Full Time - Hourly
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assembly, fitting, filing, reaming, riveting, crimping, swaging, and adjusting operations.
- Use a variety of light machine tools such as drill press, arbor press, air and hydraulic presses, and simple die sets, riveting machine hand tools.
- Trim and file parts to fit, and verify fitting tolerances, using measuring instruments such as gauges and calipers.
- Use micrometers, force gauges, calipers, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
- Work with team members to layout, fabricate, assemble, and modify jet engine assembly or test articles, test stands, equipment, and support systems.
- Operate various tools to assemble a jet engine or operate support utilities to run test articles.
- Assist in setting up test stands and preparing/mounting test articles according to procedures.
- Prepare test articles for storage and transportation.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least three years of experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with wrenches, calipers, micrometers, air levels, drills, taps, hand grinders, torque wrenches.
- Experience operating cranes, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
- Ability to read assembly drawings, detailed mechanical drawings, fluid schemes, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, schematics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Ability to interpret assembly tolerances and select appropriate tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience working with large machinery.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational/trade school certificate preferred.
- Dependable with flexibility to work scheduled hours, including overtime and weekends.

- Rockford, IL
- Pay range: $17.76 - $30.00 per hour
