Job summary

NOVMechanical Assembler position in Houston focuses on assembling parts into finished products on the warehouse floor using hand tools and automated equipment. You will read schematics, verify dimensions, and ensure correct assembly, while maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Responsibilities include producing components, performing quality checks, and documenting production activities. Overtime and weekend work may be required; cross-training and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
  • Must be able to read assembly blueprints in English format.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with limited standardization.
  • Working knowledge of shop safety practices.
  • Understanding of quality assurance concepts, typically acquired through in-house training.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Adaptability and willingness to be cross trained.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Comfortable working in a factory environment with temperature variations.
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and repetitive movements for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies
  • Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions
  • Positions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists
  • Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts
  • Conducts quality control checks
  • Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies
  • Verifies specifications by measuring complete components
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications, notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Maintains inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, placing and tracking orders, and verifying receipt of supplies
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms
