Job summary

NOV in Tulsa is seeking a Manufacturing Leader to oversee end-to-end shopfloor operations, drive safety, quality, and lean initiatives, and coordinate with materials, quality, and engineering to maintain continuous flow.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or Supply Chain, APICS/LEAN credentials preferred, strong leadership and communication skills, and hands-on experience with machining environments and MRP systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain preferred; technical training or equivalent experience in machining/manufacturing considered.
  • APICS and/or LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt certified preferred, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety culture and enforce NOV HSE policies and local regulations.
  • Investigate customer escapes with Quality/Engineering and implement preventive actions.
  • Prepare and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production and maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate resources across production stages to ensure continuous flow of material.
  • Provide input for bid packages, product delivery, and plant tours as needed.

Job description

  • Promoting a safety culture and enforcing all NOV HSE policies and procedures, also local government regulations as applicable. Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace .
  • Ensure all requirements for location quality certifications are meet and adhered to such as ISO, API, and welding certifications, etc.
  • In collaboration with Quality and/or Engineering, investigate all customer escapes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent the re-occurrence for machine shop. Analyze and address product nonconformities (scrap, rework, use-as-is) to improve the cost of quality for the machine shop.
  • Generate, direct, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production and maintenance schedules. Review scheduled shop work orders, earned hours, personal time, to ensure all customer orders / production schedules are met and there are no job order variances (JOV).
  • Ensures proper assigning and shuffling of resources to ensure continuous flow of material across all production stages. In addition, will coordinate with different functions (such as materials, quality, engineering ... etc.) to ensure continuous flow of material across all production stages. Has overall ownership of the manufacturing process from end-to-end.
  • Quote setup and run times for machine shop products. Will be involved in the creation and maintenance of machine shop routers to ensure quality and product costing accuracy.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to solve problems with part production or quality regarding tooling, programs, or equipment.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine shop personnel including training, employee development, performance evaluation, discipline actions, hiring decisions, vacation schedules, shift schedules, and time management on work orders.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to ensure all employees are properly informed about policies, procedures, location performance, programs, work schedules, etc.
  • May participate in sales / commercial process which includes providing information for large bid packages, product delivery and cost information, plant tours, etc.
  • Work with Design Engineering on the design for manufacturability/assembly for new and existing parts.
  • Drive continuous improvement in machine shop in areas of Safety, Quality, LEAN, Delivery, Lead-Time Reduction, and Cost to enhance performance. Ability to review drawings, process routers, or procedures to identify and drive opportunities for quality and cost improvements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Supply Chain major) preferred. Technical Training and/or equivalent experience in a Machining and Manufacturing environment will also be considered.
  • APICS and/or LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt Certified preferred, or must have willingness to obtain if not certified

Physical/Non-physical Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and maneuver about shop floor. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. May have to lift up to 50lbs.
