Job summary

Screen Machine Industries, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to install and assemble mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural components on production equipment. You will read blueprints and specs to build equipment safely and to schedule.

You will operate hand and power tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes, follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, and participate in quality inspections. Teamwork with engineering and supply chain is essential to meet production goals.

Qualifications

  • Read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and assembly docs.
  • Read and use a tape measure.
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Safe operation of forklifts/overhead cranes or willingness to certify.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights safely.
  • High attention to detail and quality.
  • Able to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting.
  • Follow safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Capable of lifting and moving materials as required.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and drawings to assemble equipment and products.
  • Install mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural components per design specs.
  • Safely operate hand, power tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Adhere to safety policies and LOTO requirements during assembly.
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections to ensure standards.
  • Rework or repair equipment to implement engineering changes or fix issues.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in good condition.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and quality enhancements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineering, supply chain and supervisors to meet production goals.

Job description

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the installation and assembly of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural components on production equipment. Working as part of a collaborative assembly team, this position ensures equipment is assembled accurately, safely, and efficiently to meet production schedules and quality standards. The Mechanical Assembler reports directly to the Assembly Lead and Plant Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and written or verbal work instructions to accurately assemble equipment and products.
  • Install and assemble mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural components according to design specifications.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements during equipment assembly and operation.
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections to verify products meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Rework, modify, or repair equipment as required to incorporate engineering changes or correct identified issues.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in good working condition.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement in assembly processes, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, engineering, supply chain and supervisors to achieve production goals and timelines.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and assembly documentation.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes, or willingness to obtain required certifications.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work safety at required heights.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions consistently.
  • Capable of lifting, carrying, and maneuvering materials and components as required.
