Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Buffalo Grove, IL is hiring a Mechanical Assembler to join a fast-paced manufacturing team. You will assemble hydraulic and electromechanical lifts and ramps, use hand tools and precision instruments, and work from blueprints and wiring lists.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years of mechanical assembly experience, ability to follow detailed instructions, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM; pay is $20.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• 1–2 years of mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under general supervision.
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and performing repetitive physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly of hydraulic and electromechanical lifts and ramps at various stages, including final assembly.
• Assemble, rework, and inspect components using blueprints, schematics, wiring lists, and written instructions.
• Install and test moving parts such as shafts, levers, and bearings to ensure proper function.
• Operate machines and automatic tools; inspect and test completed assemblies.
• Identify and report quality or process issues to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Support inspection, rework, and other production-related tasks as assigned.
