Job summary

Smiths Group, via John Crane, seeks an Applications Engineer specialized in couplings to deliver technical expertise across the customer lifecycle. The role requires collaboration with customers, OEMs, distributors, EPCs, and internal teams to ensure correct product selection and successful project execution.

Requirements include a Mechanical Engineering degree and at least 3 years in rotating equipment or related areas. Travel to the UK for training is expected during the onboarding period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in rotating equipment, couplings, drivetrain systems, power transmission or reliability engineering.
• Experience with ERP, engineering software, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer applications and operating conditions to recommend coupling technologies.
• Review data such as torque, speed, shaft separation, misalignment and service factors.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and engineering calculations.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for sales teams, distributors, OEMs, and customers.
• Ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
• Provide engineering support for custom coupling designs and retrofits.
