Job summary

Smiths Group is seeking an Applications Engineer-Couplings to provide technical expertise across the coupling portfolio. You will work with customers, OEMs, distributors, EPCs and internal teams to ensure proper product selection, resolve complex challenges and support project execution.

The role includes travel to the UK for training. A mechanical engineering degree and 3+ years in rotating equipment or couplings are preferred to contribute effectively from day one.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in rotating equipment, couplings, drivetrain systems or reliability engineering.
• Strong understanding of power transmission, shaft alignment and vibration.
• Ability to perform sizing calculations for product selection.
• Excellent analytical and customer-facing skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer applications to recommend coupling technologies and configurations.
• Review equipment data to ensure proper coupling selection.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations and engineering calculations.
• Serve as primary technical resource for sales teams, distributors, OEMs and customers.
• Review specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
• Provide engineering support for custom coupling designs and retrofit opportunities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations and supply chain to support project execution.
