Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair engines, powertrain components, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems on our fleet.

Shift options include Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri, with 3:00 PM–1:00 AM or 8:00 PM–6:00 AM. Pay ranges from $20.00 to $33.00 per hour, plus a $2.00/hour shift differential; FT roles may require Saturdays and OT after 40 hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn
• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components
• Inspect and maintain fleet equipment and perform routine truck inspections
• Follow shift leader instructions and work independently or with a team
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Ensure tools are available or obtain tools to complete tasks

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Shift Times Available:
• Monday-Thursday OR Tuesday-Friday, 3:00PM-1:00AM
• Monday-Thursday 8:00PM-6:00AM
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
• +$2.00 per hour shift differential
• Occasional Saturdays, as needed for full-time
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Part-time opportunities available with flexible options

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

Education And Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
