Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service is seeking a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair engines, powertrain components, hydraulics, and electrical systems on our fleet. The role requires use of scan tools and laptops, and involves independent work or team collaboration.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM start, with occasional Saturdays; pay ranges from $20.00 to $33.00 per hour plus $2 shift differential, with overtime after 40 hours. Must have own tools to perform all duties.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and powertrain components.
• Inspect and maintain fleet vehicles; perform routine truck inspections.
• Use scan tools and laptops to diagnose issues.
• Work with shift leader and teammates to ensure efficient operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Must have own tools or acquire tools to perform duties.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday, 4:00PM start


• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience

• Occasional Saturdays, as needed for full-time


• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology


• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader


• Ability to work independently and/ or with team


• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment


• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment


• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions


• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required


• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education and Experience

• At least 18 years of age


• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds


• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam


• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet


• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive


• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
