Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service is seeking a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, electrical systems and diesel emission systems. On-site work with a strong emphasis on safety; factory tools and diagnostic equipment are used.

The role requires 2 years of diesel/auto tech instruction, CDL Class A or willingness to train, and a high school diploma. Mon-Fri 7:30AM start, $20.00-$33.00/hour with $2 night diff and OT after 40 hours; benefits

Qualifications

• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
• CDL Class A license or willingness to complete company training.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and powertrain components.
• Repair air brakes, steering and suspension systems.
• Inspect and maintain fleet equipment and perform routine truck checks.
• Use scan tool and laptop for diagnostics.
• Follow safety protocols and complete tasks with limited supervision.
• Work independently or with a team to complete duties.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday, 7:30AM Start
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
  • +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education and Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
