Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is hiring a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair gasoline engines, powertrain components, brakes, steering and electrical systems for our fleet.

Shifts run Monday–Friday with start times of 7:00 AM or 2:00 PM; pay ranges from $20 to $33 per hour plus a $2 shift differential and overtime after 40 hours. Candidates must be 18+, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess or be willing to obtain diesel or auto mechanic training; safety and DOT

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and powertrain components.
• Service hydraulic brakes, steering, suspension and electrical systems.
• Perform routine truck inspections and fleet maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and carry out additional duties.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Available Shifts:
  • Monday-Friday, 7:00AM Start
  • Monday-Friday, 2:00PM Start
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
• +$2.00 per hour shift differential
• Occasional Saturdays, as needed for full-time
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Part-time opportunities available with flexible options

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education And Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
