Overview

What you will be doing

Hiring Company Truck Mechanics!

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace all mechanical equipment to maintain high levels of safe and productive equipment performance.
• Complete all records of work performed and comply with Federal, State, and company rules and regulations.
• Be on time, neatly dressed, and available for scheduled shifts or on-call periods.
• Supply and maintain defect-free hand tools to perform duties.
• Test drive vehicles that have been repaired to ensure all repairs were properly performed.
• Inspect and work with brakes as stipulated in Section 396.25 of FMCSR.
• Perform vehicle inspections that meet the qualifications in Section 396.19 of FMCSR and perform regulatory inspections.
• Use diagnostic equipment, welding and cutting machines, tire mounting, replacement, and repairing equipment.
• Work on all equipment at the terminal level (e.g., steam rack equipment, shop equipment, company cars and pickups).
• Maintain all equipment to the highest quality, in a timely manner, while keeping costs at a minimum.
• Participate in training programs, process safety management reviews, and safety meetings to comply with state and federal regulations.
• Review procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Optimize work to minimize overtime where possible.
• Assist in scheduling repairs when the Shop Foreman is unavailable.
• Perform remedial and preventive maintenance; maintain facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices.
• Participate in available cross-training to develop skills in areas specific to other mechanics.
• Must use and wear all required PPE when needed.
• Second shift schedule.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical/energy-related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3+ years mechanic experience in a related field is required.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record is required.
• Must supply and maintain defect-free hand tools to perform duties.
• Ability to test drive vehicles that have been repaired to ensure quality of repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, manuals, reports, and codes and regulations.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (percentages, ratios, proportions).
• Basic computer skills (MS Word and Excel) are required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, customers, and stakeholders.
• Proactive, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors around industrial and electrical equipment; endure temperature extremes.
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, transport loads up to 75 lbs., and apply up to 100 ft-lbs of torque.
• Wear safety equipment and, when required, use emergency breathing apparatus.
• Must be willing to take call-outs and work overtime as needed.
• Must live or relocate within 1 hour of the reporting location.
