Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is hiring for a heavy equipment maintenance mechanic. You will perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment, diagnose and repair engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and keep detailed service records.

The role requires at least 2 years of heavy equipment experience and a strong ability to read diagrams and manuals. The position offers comprehensive benefits from day one, a competitive compensation package with bonuses, life and disability

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance mechanic experience.
• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment.
• Proficient reading of technical documents, diagrams and service manuals.
• Knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication and fluid pumping systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily preventative maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment, including fueling, cleaning, and fluid checks.
• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, and welding/rigging.
• Repair engines, hydraulics systems, and mechanical components; service machinery and electrical systems.
• Document repairs and material usage; maintain records as required by supervision.
• Work in varied weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which may include fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed
• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, fluid pumping systems and welding principles/rigging
• Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment
• Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair and replacing parts and components
• Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage
• Ability to work in various types of weather conditions which include extreme heat and cold
• Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

What You’ll Need

• Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment
• Proficient in reading and understanding technical documents, diagrams and service manuals
• Experience with a wide variety of tools related to mechanics/hydraulics
• Experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles (number of years up to location preference)
• Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process
• Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance mechanic experience
• Possess specific fundamental knowledge of bearings, power transmission equipment, electrical, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, fluid pumping systems, and heat transfer
• Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
