ColonialWebb Contractors is seeking an Assembly Mechanic in Richmond, VA to assemble prefabricated piping systems and related components from engineering drawings. You will read blueprints, use hand and power tools, and perform pneumatic/hydrostatic tests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires experience in mechanical assembly, plumbing, or pipefitting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, plumbing, or pipefitting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Preferred commercial plumbing or pipefitting experience.
• Experience assembling prefabricated mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing.
• Familiarity with SOPs, quality inspections, and manufacturing processes.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble prefabricated piping systems, valves, supports, and mechanical components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and assembly schematics.
• Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measuring devices safely and accurately.
• Perform pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing to verify system integrity.
• Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
• Troubleshoot and correct assembly issues as needed.
• Complete QA/QC documentation, inspection reports, and production records.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing standards.
• Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet production schedules.

This position is responsible for assembling prefabricated mechanical piping systems, ensuring all components are installed accurately and meet quality standards before shipment to the field. The ideal candidate has experience with mechanical assembly, plumbing, or pipefitting, is comfortable working from technical drawings, and takes pride in producing high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel/composite toe boots with leather uppers.
• Visual ability to inspect assemblies and identify quality concerns.
