ColonialWebb Contractors is seeking a dependable Plumbing/Assembly Helper in Richmond, VA to support the assembly of prefabricated mechanical systems. You will assist mechanics, handle materials, and operate shop equipment in a safety-conscious, collaborative team setting.

Qualified candidates are mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. This full-time position offers competitive pay and a path toward skilled trades within a respected MEP contracting firm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Mechanically inclined with willingness to learn and grow in manufacturing.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools and operate basic shop equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Assembly Mechanics with assembling prefabricated piping systems and mechanical components.
• Hold materials in place and support manual assembly operations.
• Load, unload, and stage raw materials and finished assemblies.
• Operate shop equipment (grinders, drills, band saws, impact drivers) as trained.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in a team environment.
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.

Essential Functions

• Assist Assembly Mechanics with assembling prefabricated piping systems and mechanical components.
• Hold materials in place and support manual assembly operations.
• Operate shop equipment including grinders, impact drivers, band saws, drills, and other production tools.
• Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials, consumables, and finished assemblies throughout the shop.
• Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, overhead cranes, or similar equipment as trained.
• Assist with inventory organization and material movement to support production schedules.
• Perform general production and shop support duties as assigned.
• Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Work collaboratively with production, quality, and manufacturing teams to meet daily production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Plumbing, pipefitting, mechanical assembly, or fabrication experience.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, lulls, or similar equipment.
• Basic ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, or assembly instructions.
• Familiarity with measuring tools such as tape measures and levels.
• Mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn a skilled trade.

Physical Requirements
