Job summary

STARCON International, Inc. in Texas seeks Industrial Pipe Fitters with four or more years in piping for chemical plants or refineries. You will fit up, cut, thread and install piping and fittings, including carbon, brass, copper and stainless steel, plus hangers. Hydro- and air-testing for leaks are required.

Candidate must read isometrics and P&ID drawings, perform pipe layout, and apply solid math skills while working in demanding environments. Expect SCBA PPE and safety-focused teamwork.

Qualifications

• Four or more years’ experience in piping for chemical plants and/or refineries.
• Responsible for fit up and construction of piping systems.
• Ability to cut, thread, assemble and install piping and fittings in various materials.
• Install pipe hangers and perform hydro-tests and air tests for leaks.
• Must understand P&ID drawings and isometrics and have strong math skills.

Required Skills
The right candidate will have four or more previous years’experience working in chemical plants and/or refineries in the piping field.You are responsible for the fit up and construction of piping systems. You willcut pipe using power tools, pipe cutter, cutting torch and pipe cuttingmachine. You will thread pipe using threading machine. You will assemble andinstall a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including thosemade of carbon, brass, copper and stainless steel. You will install pipehangers. You will be required to perform hydro-tests and air tests of pipingsystems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attachedto pipes for indication of leaks. Required Skills:

• Torch cutting, operation of equipment such as pipe cutting/beveling machines and basic rigging knowledge
• Knowledge of control valves, check valves and relief valves related to removal, handling and proper installation
• Ability to install and remove blinds for isolating fixed equipment
• Sound knowledge of rigging skills
• Knowledge of materials which require the proper pre-heating prior to cutting or welding
• Ability to read and understand piping isometric drawings and P&ID’s
• Ability to read and understand weld procedures
• Ability to perform steam tracing on associated piping systems
• Cut and thread pipe using various tools and machines
• Ability to layout and install pipe hangers
• Ability to layout and fit pipe from field dimensions or from field sketches, Isometric and P&ID drawings.
• Must possess strong math skills

Work Environment
The work environment may require you to work in SCBA,special protective PPE specific to the unit and working at heights. Extended work hours may be required. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Must be physically able to carry up to 50 lbs. of tools and/or material.
