Job summary

Hamilton County seeks a Mechanic 2 to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of county vehicles and equipment, including gas, diesel, and propane engines. Under general supervision, you will perform major mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance to keep fleet operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Automotive Technology or related field and two years of vehicle/equipment maintenance experience, or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of heavy/medium duty equipment maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, adjust, repair, and maintain county vehicles and equipment (gas, diesel, propane).
• Perform major repairs (engines, hydraulic, brakes, exhaust) and tune-ups.
• Fabricate parts as needed and operate test equipment.
• Maintain records of repairs, parts used, and fuel consumption.
• Oversee and guide mechanics; attend trainings as directed.
