Cooper Machinery Services in Houston, TX seeks a Mechanic II to disassemble, repair, rebuild and test natural gas engine and compressor equipment for customers around the globe. You’ll work hands-on in a shop that supports Cooper-Bessemer, Ajax, and Superior equipment.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of mechanical experience, can read drawings, use precision tools, and follow safety practices while meeting engineering specifications and documenting work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Able to read prints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, and perform other physical tasks.
• Knowledgeable in safety regulations and good housekeeping practices.

Responsabilités

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex natural gas engine and compressor equipment.
• Read detailed prints and take precise measurements with micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators.
• Set up and run test operations to engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor maintenance.
• Complete risk assessments before operations and material movements.
• Report problems and hazardous conditions, and keep the shop safe, clean, and organized.
• Keep facility equipment and tooling operational, efficient, and safe.
• Complete required documentation and training accurately.

What You Will Do

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex natural gas engine and compressor equipment
• Use manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools to fit, adjust, and secure components
• Clean, inspect, and repair engine and compressor components in a shop environment
• Read detailed prints and take precise measurements with micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators
• Set up and run test operations to engineering specifications
• Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor maintenance
• Complete risk assessments before operations and material movements
• Report problems and hazardous conditions, and keep the shop safe, clean, and organized
• Keep facility equipment and tooling operational, efficient, and safe
• Complete required documentation and business training accurately, and take on additional duties as assigned

Who You Are

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance
• Able to interpret drawings, prints, schematics, and engineering specifications, with basic math skills
• Comfortable with tools and equipment, and able to troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Knowledgeable in safety regulations and good housekeeping practices
• Physically able to push, pull, lift, bend, and perform other physical tasks
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
• Valid driver's license
• A team player with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, who can work independently to engineering specifications

Preferred

• 2+ years of experience in operations or service center applications
• Strong knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor equipment
