Position Overview

The Mechanic II manages work orders for customer repairs and performs servicing on equipment including diesel-powered tractors, garden tractors, UTVs, lawn and garden equipment, and fork trucks. Responsibilities include parts ordering, warranty claims, and customer communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality on-site repair services
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members
• Ensure safe and proper equipment and tool usage
• Handle hazardous materials according to regulations
• Complete warranty documentation accurately
• Manage special order parts and document repair activities
• Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
• Perform safety-compliant service tasks
• Use computer systems for parts identification, documentation, and claims processing
• Read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and blueprints
• Update on work progress and schedule
• Assist with loading/unloading machines
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic to advanced repairs
• Participate in equipment sales and cross-training
• Operate machinery safely
• Engage in training and learning initiatives
• Support team with inquiries and issues

Essential Qualities

• Minimum 3 years of diesel repair experience or equivalent
• Strong mechanical skills in small engines, diesel engines, electrical, A/C, and hydraulics
• Excellent communication skills
• Active listening and thorough responses
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and in-store technology
• Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for long periods
• Repetitive wrist movements
• Lift/push/pull at least 30 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds intermittently
• Use of ladder, pallet jack, forklift
• Close vision for computer tasks
