Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic (Levels I & II) is responsible for following daily work assignments to meet GMP standards while adhering to all safety and company policies. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing all production line equipment. This position also involves removing, disassembling, reassembling, and re-installing pistons during washouts. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanics perform monthly preventive maintenance for packaging line equipment and participate in bi-annual deep cleaning and sanitization procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support, manage customer relations, and oversee personnel for major programs and projects.
  • Perform daily work assignments as directed by supervisors, respond to repair requests, and work on projects such as equipment relocation, installations, and upgrades.
  • Complete work orders, log activities, and handle tasks like disassembling and reassembling pistons during washouts.
  • Conduct line size changeovers, monthly preventive maintenance, and deep cleaning procedures.
  • Maintain the shop area, manage spare parts, and request supplies as needed.
  • Identify and report safety issues and suggest improvements.
  • Attend safety training and perform safety inspections monthly.
Qualifications
Education

High School Diploma, GED, or trade school.

Experience

At least 5 years of high-speed packaging line maintenance experience, including plumbing and basic electrical work.

Skills
  • Effective communication in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to interpret policies, manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding SOPs, safety protocols, and conduct guidelines.
  • Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and timely decisions.
  • Professionalism, respectfulness, and responsibility.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Technical skills including welding, cutting, grinding, basic plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, millwright work, and machine shop tools.

  • Advanced plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced machine shop and PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with higher technology HMIs.
Decision-Making Authority
  • Prioritize daily assignments for effective and timely completion.
  • Efficient use of supplies, equipment, and resources.
  • Make recommendations for process, safety, and equipment improvements, subject to review and approval.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, operate tools, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. The environment may include noise, outdoor weather, and exposure to chemicals and mechanical hazards. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
