Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas is seeking a Mechanic I to support maintenance, servicing, and minor repairs of tribal vehicles and equipment. You will work under the Lead Mechanic and assist in routine tasks, inspections, and diagnostics in a shop setting.

Mechanic I is an entry-level to intermediate position responsible for assisting in the maintenance, servicing, and minor repair of Tribal vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery. This role supports the Lead Mechanic and Mechanic II by performing routine mechanical tasks, inspections, and basic diagnostics. Mechanic I ensures equipment is safely prepared for field use and helps maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
This position is ideal for individuals developing their mechanical skills or beginning their career in heavy equipment maintenance.
This position does not carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. One (1) year of experience in automotive or equipment maintenance OR equivalent vocational training.
Preferred Qualifications: Enrolled membership in the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas (KTTT) preferred. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with heavy equipment or diesel systems. Vocational training in mechanics or related field.
