Job summary

King Asphalt, Inc. is seeking a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to maintain and repair asphalt paving machines and support heavy machinery such as pavers, milling machines, and motor graders.

You will diagnose problems and perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic adjustments as needed to keep equipment running efficiently. This role requires the ability to work days, nights, or weekends as required, adherence to safety practices, and updating the Shop Foreman on repairs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in heavy equipment mechanics (diesel and hydraulics).
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work days, nights, or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
• Welding and fabricating.
• Adjust electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems on diesel-powered equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow procedures.
• Provide repairs updates to Shop Foreman and use Fleetwatcher for reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Includes Asphalt Pavers, Milling Machines, Motor Graders, etc.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical problems
• Welding and fabricating
• Ability to perform a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic adjustments and repairs on gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and heavy construction equipment
• Ability to diagnose problems and make the appropriate adjustments, repairs, or replacements to electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, drive train, and mechanical systems
• Ability to use a variety of tools including but not limited to personal tools, common shop hand tools, hoist or crane equipment, grinders, welders, power tools, precision mechanic tools
• Maintain a clean work environment and follow safe practices and procedures
• Provide updates to Shop Foreman on all repairs and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Complete required record keeping and reporting utilizing company software including Fleetwatcher.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in heavy equipment mechanics - diesel and hydraulics
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to workdays, nights, or weekends as needed
• Must be able to meet company MVR requirements and have a valid driver's license
• Employer conducts drug testing and background check
• Complete other assignments as requested.
