Job summary

King Asphalt in Conway, SC seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair a range of vehicles and heavy machinery, including asphalt pavers, milling machines, and motor graders. The role requires diagnosing mechanical problems and performing welding and fabrication as needed.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy equipment mechanics with diesel and hydraulic expertise, and must meet MVR standards and possess a valid license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in heavy equipment mechanics - diesel and hydraulics.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to work days, nights, or weekends as needed.
• Must meet company MVR requirements and have a valid driver's license.
• Employer conducts drug testing and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Includes Asphalt Pavers, Milling Machines, Motor Graders, etc.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical problems
• Welding and fabricating
• Ability to perform a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic adjustments and repairs on gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and heavy construction equipment
• Ability to diagnose problems and make the appropriate adjustments, repairs, or replacements to electrical, hydraulic, engine, transmission, drive train, and mechanical systems
• Ability to use a variety of tools including but not limited to personal tools, common shop hand tools, hoist or crane equipment, grinders, welders, power tools, precision mechanic tools
• Maintain a clean work environment and follow safe practices and procedures
• Provide updates to Shop Foreman on all repairs and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Complete required record keeping and reporting utilizing company software including Fleetwatcher.
• Other duties as assigned
