Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. in St. Cloud, MN is hiring a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, air brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems and diesel emission systems.

The role requires own tools (or ability to obtain) and offers $20.00-$33.00 per hour with a $2.00 per hour overnight shift differential; overtime paid after 40 hours. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time applicants.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle or willing to learn.
• Two years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
• CDL Class A or willingness to complete company training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and powertrain components.
• Inspect and maintain fleet equipment, air brakes, steering, suspension.
• Use scan tools and laptop technology; follow shift leader instructions.
• Perform routine inspections and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday
• Start times: Monday-Thursday 9:00PM start, Friday 6:30PM start
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
• +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education And Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
