Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems and diesel emission systems.

The role will require using scan tools, following instructions from the shift leader, and performing inspections and maintenance on fleet equipment. You may work independently or with a team and must have or obtain your own tools.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver’s license or be willing to complete company-paid CDL training.

Responsibilities

• Use scan tools and laptop technology.
• Follow shift leader instructions and work independently or with a team.
• Perform routine truck inspections and fleet maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Must provide own tools or have ability to obtain tools.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday, 7:30AM Start


• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience


• +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology


• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader


• Ability to work independently and/ or with team


• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment


• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment


• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions


• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required


• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education And Experience

• At least 18 years of age


• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred


• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds


• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam


• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet


• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive


• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
