Job summary

Knight Transportation is seeking skilled maintenance technicians to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet of tractors, trailers, and support equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform disassembly and repair of heavy truck components, and ensure tire maintenance is completed to OEM specifications.

We value candidates with basic vehicle maintenance knowledge, strong customer service, and the ability to read repair manuals.

Qualifications

• Entry-level knowledge of vehicle systems and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Demonstrated/proven superior customer service skills.
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals and complete repair orders.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on company equipment: tractors, trailers, refrigerate units, and support gear.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs for equipment.
• Disassemble and repair heavy truck components including engines, transmissions, axles, and related systems.
• Perform tire maintenance including repairs and replacements.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment and support team objectives.

Must be physically capable of standing for long periods, bending, crawling, climbing, reaching, lifting heavy objects (up to 100 pounds or more depending on the job), and performing repetitive motions with their hands and arms, often while working in tight spaces. This job requires good overall strength dexterity and endurance.

Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Complete a quality preventative maintenance inspection and repairs on all company owned equipment, to include tractors, trailers, refrigerated units and support equipment.

• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment to appropriate specifications (OEM, DOT, company, etc.).
• Inspect, analyze, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform minor and/or complex repairs for all equipment.
• Disassemble, repair and re-assemble of Heavy Truck & Trailer components; including but not limited to; refrigerated units, diesel engines, transmissions, axels and any other components or systems.
• Perform tire maintenance to include: repairs, failure analysis, coding, identification.
• May be required to test drive equipment if certified.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
• Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

• Entry-level knowledge of vehicle systems and basic vehicle maintenance preferred.
• High School or combination of training and/or experience required.
• Drivers license required.
• Demonstrated/proven superior customer service skills.
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals, understanding and ability to complete/fill tags and repair orders.
• Ability to use and learn various diagnostic software used on tractor/trailers.
• Must possess excellent computer skills.
• Must be able to complete/fill tags and repair orders.

Pay Range: $21.75 - $29.68 Hourly
