Knight Transportation is seeking a results-driven Operations Leader to supervise a fleet of 30+ drivers, optimizing productivity and profitability across the assigned region. You will build strong relationships with Driving Associates, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with planners to assign lanes that benefit both the company and drivers.

Strong leadership, communication, and multi-tasking skills are essential in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Operations/Planning/Customer Accounts.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Ability to lead others and communicate effectively.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead a fleet of 30+ drivers and manage driver availability to maximize productivity.
• Review Profit/Loss for the assigned area and maximize profitability.
• Develop relationships with Driving Associates to improve safety, service, and retention.
• Coach drivers to meet mileage goals and manage home time and hours of service.
• Collaborate with Planners to assign drivers to optimal lanes.
• Discuss loads and service expectations with drivers on every plan.
• Provide coaching and training to help associates reach their potential.
• Communicate safety expectations including pre-trip inspections and route conditions.
• Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers.
• Conduct timely in-person reviews with Driving Associates.
• Track freight to ensure on-time delivery and inform customers with current information.
• Support sales and account teams to align on objectives.

Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Lead a fleet of 30+ drivers and manage driver availability to maximize productivity of their fleet. Routinely review Profit/Loss (P/L) for assigned area and find ways to maximize profitability. Develop a personal and professional relationship with each Driving Associate that leads to exceptional safety, service, equipment care, fuel performance and retention.

• Coach Driving Associates to achieve their weekly mileage goal by effectively managing home time and hours of service.
• Maximize P/L for all assigned tractors.
• Collaborate with Planner(s) and assign drivers to lanes that best serve both the company and the driver.
• Discuss each load and the service expectations with every driver on every plan.
• Personally coach each Driving Associate to identify opportunities for improvement and actively provide the training/coaching needed to help Driving Associate reach their highest potential and performance.
• Proactively communicate with Driving Associate about safety expectations including pre-trip inspections, following distance, and route conditions.
• Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers.
• Provide timely and meaningful in-person reviews for each Driving Associate.
• Track freight to its final destination to ensure on time delivery.
• Work closely with sales and account teams to ensure customer has most current information.
• Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

• 2+ years' in Operations and/or Planning and/or Customer Accounts required.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
• Must be able to lead others.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to work in high pressure situations in a fast paced environment.
• Must be proficient in MS Office.

Pay Range: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annual
